From the World Series Championship to the Kentucky Derby, John W. Galbreath left his mark on history — but his most important legacy? His work as a philanthropist, supporting vital charities throughout central Ohio and funding the creation of Bicentennial Park. Philanthropy has been a cornerstone value of Darby House since its founding. Today, Darby House is proud to give back to the local community and donate a portion of our profits to the following charities and nonprofit organizations:
The Galbreath Equine Center
The Galbreath Equine Center is one of the world’s most sophisticated equine hospitals, fully staffed with board-certified faculty — two of whom are double-boarded in surgery and sports medicine. Our hospital enjoys resources that allow us to provide an unsurpassed level of care across all horse breeds and disciplines. On-site industry-leading imaging technology includes a 3-Tesla 70cm bore MRI, 128-slice CT scanner, digital radiography, ultrasound, and nuclear imaging. Combined with a high-speed equine treadmill, our lameness diagnostic capability rivals that of any other equine hospital or referral center in the world.
The Dream Center
The Columbus Dream Center is a volunteer-driven organization, dedicated to providing hope to low-income individuals and families as well as those who are experiencing homelessness by providing food and resources and a commitment to cultivating consistent healthy relationships with those we serve.
End Poverty is a faith-based non-profit that works with local organizations in the developing world to empower individuals and families to lift themselves out of the entanglements of poverty.
Youth for Christ
Central Ohio Youth For Christ shares the light of the gospel with 11-19 year old teens, regardless of their home life, social standing or spiritual background.
OhioHealth Doctors Hospital, located in Columbus, Ohio, is renowned for its expertise in emergency care — especially for conditions of the heart. Doctors Hospital also stands out among other Ohio hospitals as a premier osteopathic teaching institution, training many of today’s best and brightest medical professionals.
The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is a non-profit zoo located near Powell. With 10,000 animals in six distinct regions, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is an education and recreational complex that provides a journey for your body and your imagination.
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a volunteer-powered nonprofit dedicated to rescuing homeless, neglected, and abandoned animals from certain euthanasia and finding them loving forever homes. We educate the community and all pet parents on responsible pet parenting, including the importance of spay/neuter, obedience training, and good nutrition.
